Football Stars who deserve to win FIFA Ballon d’Or before they RETIRE
1. Neymar
Club: Barcelona
Barcelona forward did so well in 2015 to earn himself a top three finish in 2016 FIFA Ballon d’Or race but he is still not ripe for the award just yet. In future though, he looks like the most likely candidate to take the coveted award from Ronaldo and Messi for the first time in 8 years.
2. Luis Suarez
Club: Barcelona
Barcelona striker Luis Suarez may have discipline issues especially when it comes to biting opponents but take nothing away from him football matters. He is a beast. He want to score more goals and this is clear from the start to the end of his time on the pitch.
His record speaks for itself, in only 106 appearances at Barcelona, the Uruguay striker has netted 92 times. Before that, he scored 82 goals in 133 matches for Liverpool. He has found the net 47 times in only 88 outings with the national team despite multiple suspensions. He surely deserves to win the coveted award in the next couple of years.
3. Thomas Muller
Club: Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller will challenge the likes Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar in the next few years. Since his emergence in 2010 World Cup in South Africa where he scored 6 goals, the German has improved every year for both club and country. Last season, he scored 32 goals in 49 appearances and he has no intention to stop.
In 2014, he was a key player in the Germany line-up that won the World Cup. His career total so far is 170 strikes in 396 matches making him one of the most dangerous players ever. Let us not forget he does not play as a striker. For Germany, Muller has 36 in the bag in only 81 appearances.
4. Harry Kane
Club: Tottenham Hotspur
If you are a serious Premier League fan you know for sure it is not easy to score 31 goals in 51 appearances and 28 strikes in 50 matches, which is great return for any forward. Harry Kane did exactly that in the last two seasons. If he continues he will certainly challenge the very best in the next couple of years for FIFA Ballon d’Or.
5. Anthony Martial
Club: Manchester United
Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is without a doubt a Ballon d’Or candidate in future. He has taken Premier League by storm and he continues to be the most effective player in Red Devils shirt.
The 20-year-old scored 17 goals in 49 appearances in his first season at Old Trafford. He has started slowly this season but there is still time for him to pick up.
6. Paulo Dybala
Club: Juventus
I know many of you may not know him but with time, you will be forced to find out who this fellow is. The Argentine has been compared to Aguero and Messi among others because of his creative style of play, pace, technique and eye for goal. The 22-year-old has so far scored 25 goals in 54 appearances for Juventus.
7. Paul Pogba
Club: Manchester United
Manchester United midfield general Paul Pogba has been in the headlines for the last few years. Since his unceremonious departure from Manchester United, the French man has grown in stature. That is the main reason why they paid €105 million (£89.3 million) to bring him back to Old Trafford. At the age of 23 years, his future is bright. He will certainly challenge Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar in the coming season.
8. Eden Hazard
Club: Chelsea
2015 Premier League Player of the Year Eden Hazard will certainly challenge Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar in the following years. He has the speed, trickery and eye for goal. He was instrumental in Jose Mourinho double winning side in 2014/15 season. His form went down last season but he has started well this year and at his age he can only get better.
