Experienced mountain climbers know how important it is to prepare, both physically and in spirit. They visualize themselves climbing the target mountain. They exercise to build their strength and stamina. Mountain-climbers have maps to help them chart the path to take else they could get lost along the way. Visualize yourself along the path to achieving your goals. ask yourself what you need along the journey. Develop a road-map or plan to achieve set goals. Accidental success is almost an oxymoron.
PUT OUT
The teacher of teachers told Peter the fisherman to 'put out a little from the land into the deep and let down his nets for catch'. Achieving new heights requires us to move out of our comfort zones. the joy of mountain
climbers derives from progressively conquering higher mountains. First Idanre Hills, next the Mambilla Plateau, and the Mount Everest perhaps!
PRACTICE
Mountain climbers try out smaller hills and mountains before setting out to conquer the higher mountains. Don't be satisfied with the quality of skills you currently have, Upscale.
Applying the principle of Deliberate Practice: intentionally work on a skill repeatedly. Seek to be the best at what you do. The difference between the ordinary and extra-ordinary is in the word, 'extra'. Do more than your peers are doing. Go the extra-mile.

Be passionate about achieving your goals. it's exciting to get to the mountain top. To borrow from the sports brand Nike, even when you do not feel like it, strive to 'Just Do It'. Self-discipline is crucial

PARTNERSHIPS
Mountain climbers hardly do solo trips; they generally have guides and climb in teams. Solo expeditions have been known to end in disaster with no one to help in times of danger.
Actively seek for people with whom you can share your goals; people with whom you can share your goals; people who would encourage and/or mentor you and act as accountability partners.
PITFALL ANTICIPATION AND AVOIDANCE
Mountain climbers have compasses to guide and keep them on the right path as they climb the mountain. Have an internal compass that points you to the true North.
Be sensitive and deal with distractions that could derail you from achieving your goals.
Pitfalls to watch out for include fears; such as fear of failure and fear of the unknown; discouragement; complacency/indifference; laziness; procrastination, time-wasters and unproductive relationship.
PRAYER
Ultimately, hitting new heights will be grace of the Almighty God who formed the mountains (Amos 4:13) and established them by His strength (Psalm 65:6). He is the one who weighs the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance (Isaiah 40:12). Pray to God upward and onward!
