Judges to declare assets before and after delivering judgment – NJC
On Monday, 24th October, 2016, National Judicial Council issued a directive to all judges presiding in “sensitive and highly visible trials such as election petition proceedings” to declare their assets before they begin proceedings on such cases and immediately after they give judgement on such cases.
This directive will be reflected in the new code of conduct for judicial officers which is currently being reviewed by a 10-man Judicial Ethics Committee set up by NJC.
